What T5's are you referring to as Green Power Module being "better than"?
I tried 1 Green Power Module in the past and a single definitely didn't do the trick for growing as I expected it to. Isn't the claim - 1 Module replaces 2 T5 lamps?

Maybe the test I saw was using t5 not t5ho. Thanks for catching that I didn't realize.

You can't get enough light from one module. Can you get good results from two t5s? Don't you need more than just two flouros?

Has your shop had any experience with this product?

Unfortunately not. I've heard of the product before but no hands on experience or customers that are using it at the moment.
Seems cool though, if you can truly go weeks to months between reservoir change outs.

Oh I remember your post.

You said you followed manufacturers recommendations for distance to plants and they didn't work well. Here's what you're doing wrong.

They make those recommendatios off using many bars next to eachother, that provides enough light to give good results, so your pic shows the light is way too far away if you want to get away with only one bar.

The green power strip works extremely well for seedlings and lettuce, my pics don't lie. The bar isn't designed to be used by itself with the spacing you used that's why your results aren't good.

im not sure if it's the angle spread of the light off the bars or what, but they are designed to run in 4' deep racks side by side by side by side by side etc so there's a lot of light overlap.

You can clearly see by twobroshydro and lettuce people vids online that the Philips bars work better in their commercial lettuce farms.

Here are the videos. Anyone here interested in growing lettuce should watch them. As you can see these people are using them as recommended by manufacturer. I had a Philips Horti specialist help me design my system. He sent me ppfd charts specifically for my layout and provided guidance on how to use the bars. if you get in touch with them they will help you understand how to use them properly to get the results you want. You'd also learn some specific science stuff behind how they intend them to be used. - part of their sales process is to work with the horti specialist to ensure you system design is correctly matching the design of the bars for optimal results.

It's not up to that lettuce lady to teach you how to use a product, she's got her own business to run. I'm going to do a side by side comparison between four t5 and 2 Philips bars and see.

I have contacted many a LED bar company and ask the specific question: will your led's grow field grown SIZE and QUALITY heads of lettuce? - watch them scramble lol

Same as when people compare the best COB's to the cheap Amazon HPS stuff........not top quality from each side............

I am looking at your grow setup and it reminds me of a conversation I had just on Wednesday. I see you are using some kind of fiberglass insulation board or something. Do you have any concerns that there is fire retardant on that board? or some other chemicals? I seems like if there were it would drip down into your reservoir, mix with your water and the plants would suck it up. I have no first hand knowledge on this subject matter, but I was chatting with someone about it and we both shared that concern.

how high is your light off the top of the growing deck? what is your watts per sf?

Wow there's a lot of passion over this. I'm using a piece of scrap wood because it was my first attempt. I had a shelf so I used it.

Well I definitely don't want to argue. I feel like this got pretty agro- I'll buy two or four sunblaster t5ho and run a shelf with 1-2 Philips and see. I didn't know there was so much hate for the Philips,they produced such good results for me but seriously your Asunción of them being bad because you aren't using them incorrectly is your deal not mine.

Put the light closer to the plants until thy produce better results, pretty simple.

I was pretty disappointed when I saw your post early this year saying Philips were garbage when they produced such good results for me, they run way cooler than t5ho and produced nice plants....


So I definitely feel like you've made up your mind that they are shit even from your first post. I'm sure they are much better than you're giving credit for. They are well designed.

We need to get a community PAR meter we can pass around. I would like to buy one, but once i get it dialed in, i don't think I would use it that often, at least not enough to warrant a $400 device.
