Do you just wander the internet to find people to annoy you?
Ya got me on harsh and idle speech, the harsh is reserved for Trumpers. Idle babbling, well some things ya gotta live with! :D Sometimes when I get high... There is a word in a middle eastern tongue for hash, it kinda means it makes ya talk crazy and foolish!

However some of us are enlightened enough for our purposes, no need to go to extremes to avoid rebirth as a slug!

Yeah, he's trying the same tune. It's not going to work on me this time.

I don't know what his game is. I mean, bragging on Scotland, really? Their state tree is called a stick in Oregon.

In the US, Scotch is a term for miserly, cheap people who eat stuff we'd rather feed to our dogs. Also a hard candy.

So, good on him that he's comfortable and keeps his toesies warm with free energy during their dismal winters that last 365 days. Meanwhile, there is no nation with that name in it. He lives on an island filled with people consumed with delusions of grandeur.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. I hope the facts don't annoy him. I don't think I could stand it if he came back with another moronic diatribe.

It has been politicised to a degree in every country and the more they stray from expert scientific advice the worse it is, worst of all in America and that is where it is politised most. Scientists study nature to learn the truth about things to quantify and qualify. Their peers, doctors and engineers translate these discoveries into usable counsel and technology. To deal with reality most effectively we must have a grasp on it and that is where the rubber meets the road, they have to try and make politicians understand. The technocrats are not the issue, politicians and competing economic, political and social interests are where the problems are. It's a lot like us Budley we know what we should and should not do, but... :D

I have found though, the covid response scorecard is a measure of good governance in general, Canada got a B+, America got an F, but we all want A's, we're smart enough to get them.
this all happened in 1918..the anti maskers..the anti vaccers..the conspiracy theory.

Where I live is more Scottish than where he does! Probably more gaelic speakers, they have it on road signs here, multiculturalism run amuck :D Fuck, we even got weirdos in dresses for the tourists!

*Sad Face* today. We have to do this yall. Our family and friends are dying.

I agree that it's been made and even turned into political all on it's own, but I didn't post this thread to discuss politics. I posted to talk to yall, about what we can do to make a difference on our own. Because the people we care about are dying, or suffering life time ill effects from this monster of a virus. Accountability and independence are important virtues to have. Along with prudence, justice, and benevolence.

o_O>:(
The scale of Coronavirus deaths

Almost 40 countries have reported record single-day increases of coronavirus in the last week. Double over the prior week. Buckle up world, covid ain't done with you yet..o_O

"The World Health Organization says that the United States, Brazil and India can still get on top of the pandemic. They are “powerful, able, democratic countries who have tremendous internal capacities to deal with this disease”, Dr. Mike Ryan, head of the WHO emergencies programme, told a Geneva briefing recently."
-quoted from Reuters Covid link above-

Yes, yes we can. WE are powerful, able, and democratic. Lets do this, Americans - and all you other folks from across the world here chatting with us too.

Thank you, to all yall. All of your contributions (that aren't irrelevant), facts, and opinions are appreciated and respected by me.

Peace and be safe :leaf: wear a mask :leaf: tell your friends :leaf: change the world

As the offended Scotch guy said, covid is political. It's causing nations to churn. Economies to shrink, tens of thousand of kid to starve, probably will end up associated with wars that come later on if this recession lingers.

I don't understand why a problem that can't be addressed without cool and rational thought should be such a hot item but it is. No point in denying it. If you do, people won't listen and they will ban you as what the folks at toke n talk wanted to happen to you.

We aren't dealing with rational people. Trying to be rational to them either becomes a source of ridicule or a source of outrage. Deal with that however you wish. A few very people will not stop trying, like hannimal. I'm not like that. I think the combination of social pressure from goons like me and people with patience, empathy and thoughtfulness is the recipe for dealing with these luddites. That's how I break it down.

I agree with you 100% which is why I said "I agree that its been made and even turned into political all on its own." I agree that it's been "made" by trump and his minions. Turned into political all on its own due to its massive effects on the world.

True, a rational person would agree that these problems can be addressed, and resolved. I don't understand either.. I am not in denial, my eyes are wide open. If you're referring to me saying "I didn't come here to talk about political" thats just me being honest about my intentions with this post.

Yall can talk whatever you want - this was about communicating with each other on however we feel. I was segragated to the political section for my social questioning, so it is what it is. I tried to avoid it becoming mainly political. Now, I expect it to go political on and off and I don't care what yall discuss. It's all good! Anything is open because communication is key, and all of it is important.

I am often misunderstood.. plus I solve problems (sometimes for very angry people) for a living. So I guess I have a high tolerance level for abuse.. bahaha. I know most people get sick of trying to talk sense into folks and just give up - or resort to disrespect. That's just not me.

I will say nothing at all before I will say half the things that get said on this forum.. and I will NEVER give up. I'm a fighter. Thats just me though - and I dont judge anyone. Socially, I curse like a sailor LOL. We all have our faults.. or rather, habits that others perceive as "faults."

Uh, yeah, about the cursing.

We need more of that. jk

I found these two cartoons that sum much of how I feel about this:

1596049329039.png

It's true. My right wing brother is exactly the kind of person who will do all the dumb stuff and eventually get this virus. I will mourn his passing if it gets him.

And get mocked for it.

Just to be clear, in no way am I denying the "political" aspects of COVID. I simply attempted to start a discussion ------> away from politics. So that we could focus on the social aspects. That obviously did not work, and thats ok. WE are still talking. That's what's important to me.

Did they really want me to be banned?! LOLOL wow. They really are sensitive lil suckers aren't they. *smirk* That's how you know your words got through -even if they are not humble enough to acknowledge the facts.

P.S. You break it down correctly :leaf: not all changes can be accomplished with peace, and that's why I let you "goons" be. I know yall are warriors, battling for the greater good. Teamwork makes the dream work:wall: and we got long days ahead..

I don't know about the banned thing. If you persist posting your "political" stuff there, you might. There is history between those people and some here that goes way back. I've only been posting here since 2014 and there is something happened that ended up with a Balkanized RIU that I'm wasn't around to see. I'm pretty careful whenever I post outside of politics. Less is tolerated.

I like to post here because the mods aren't crabby about rough dialogue. I think I've learned more here the about the zeitgeist of our times than I do through much other online media. Though I've heard that reddit is more extreme but not my thing. My own voice has changed too. Not proud of the phrasing in some of my statements that I made a few years ago. A bit too Buck-like and a former poster, ttystikk . Not that I'm criticizing, it's just not my voice.

Here is a thread by schuylaar that shows what went on in 2016:

It's huge, spans the entire election cycle and aftermath. Attitudes between members changed during that time. Not saying you should read all of it, just putting it out there for reference.

Oh, you said something about banning and they were trying yesterday. I literally don't intend to post there ever again - not my kinda social folks. Not one person asked or said "hey, maybe you should move this" in a respectful way. I woulda said "oh my bad, sure, no problem." No questions asked...

I was seriously hesitant on where to correctly post, and put alot of thought into it. There is a COVID thread there with 6K replies. After skimming through that hot mess, I thought for sure I would be ok to post there. Oh well.. "Law and Order" seems to be a common theme.

When I say I was "segragated" I mean by the people who reported it and complained until it was moved. They did exactly what so many people are protesting against. Segragated my voice because they didn't want to hear it. So much for freedom of speech, but yeah.. I already know how that doesn't work online. Rights are not the same, and gotta roll with what the site has going on.

I'm typically unphased by ignorance, but I was def feeling a lil overwhelmed the first few hours of comments. The social truths should always be tolerated. Also, the people that thought it should be moved contributed absolutely nothing to this thread.

Thank you for the link and context - I'm taking notes and learning.. haha :leaf:

I give up. The political section in here consist almost entirely of you 3 just being assholes to everyone that comes in. Enjoy wanking each other off lads. Xx
Come back at me with anything you feel like anytime, and remember you have a ignore button for a reason if you are getting trolled and are having a hard time not responding.

Better to be a dick in here in a safe space, than to hold onto it until all of the shitty programming the Russians and other foreign dictators trolls are pushing gets people so angry it boils over in real life.

Nobody can wake someone up from a cult, they have to do it on their own.

I mean cmon... every mainstream aspect of our global lives IS political. And its actually political SCIENCE. Science is there for a reason.

I could take this some steps further just by saying that our perception works methodologically...
Do you mean "political" as in how Trump denied it was even a risk, or said it just the flu and touted fake cures then dared the rational community to say something? Or do you mean "political" as in we need to come together and take steps to manage the epidemic? (loaded question, I know, shitty way for me to ask)

I guess I have a different view of what science is and I have always looked sideways at calling it political science. I kind of get what you are trying to say, sort of.

If you want to expand on this, by all means do. Not saying I'm going to agree but I think we can discuss.
