In short, they make a choice, imo, it makes the world a more dangerous place and leads politicians to restrict our rights under the guise of safety and security. *Yawn* Matter of opinion.

No, I've never heard you say it, but I've heard more than one service member say it.

My disdain stems from my belief that they aren't putting their lives on the line for me, they just say they are because they've been told their occupation is honorable and they think it's justified, and that should be enough for me to bow down and praise them for their service. As I mentioned before, I think what they do - on the grand scale - puts each of us at greater risk than we would be without them. While they may help out and vaccinate kids in third world countries, their existence creates more terrorists, more enemies, and more dangerous situations that could have been prevented had the soldier chosen a different occupation.

You go on and keep enjoying that freedom to sit there and spew your bile that the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have afforded you. Good luck.

I do believe the U.S. does more good than harm, at least when I served I believe that was the case. I believe this because I experienced it, I didn't sit around getting spoon fed a bunch of horseshit from people with an axe to grind with the government for whatever reason. I'll say it again, I realize the U.S. government has done some bad shit. That doesn't mean that it's all bad or even mostly bad just because that's all you care to see or all you've read or been told. You cannot convince me otherwise because I lived it!

This is just gonna have to be yet another thing we have to agree to disagree on.

Ok this is my last post on this topic, there is no changing anyones mind on the matter and therefore no point in wasting time. Anyway...I agree that there shouldn't be respect expected(which by the way is human nature), but I do believe that respect should be given. I don't believe that we should hold a race accountable for the actions their ancestors took part in, unless they believe the same things as their ancestors. Every country, military, and individual themselves have done things that are not honorable...but the U.S. Military is here for our countries protection, and the defense of those that cannot defend themselves. There is both good and bad to every thing in this world, but if you as a person try to do the best you can at everything you do and believe that you are helping and bettering the world...then that's all that matters in my humble opinion.
