Most important tool used for gardening...

My compost pile. Without my awesome compost teas I would be lost. Best thing about these teas is that they are truly suitable for all stages of development, and my Ph has stayed between 6.3 and 6.7 for so long I rarely even bother checking. But then I grow in soil so there is that.

    Human Urine - Good fertilizer?

Too many humans, unaware of the often messy and disgusting aspects involved in the whole field to plate food production, overlook that natures processes include acquiring energy as mother nature has intended. Take the lowly catfish and talapia. These fish are a vital step in many countries waste...

When do my plants need to be under lights?

Yeah, I put my germinated seeds under lights as soon as they are planted, as the warmth of the lights IMO helps nurture the little babies.

Using urine as a free and effective fertilizer.

This is a subject which meets with a lot of resistance, mostly IMO from those who are die hard fans of one chemical fert or another. When I have posted on this subject I invariably get the response " Why would you use urine with so many good fertilizers out there?" I am amazed that these same...

    Human Urine - Good fertilizer?

I have implemented urine in my organic grow, and not only is it an awesome and free fertilizer, but Finland has begun full scale urine fertilization of food crops. This is after studies showed that not only did urine outperform commercial ferts, but plants ( cabbages in the study ) were more...

Q about picking outdoor grow space (available light)

Ok, first of all sunlight has amazing penetrating abilities. On the cloudiest of days sun will still penetrate the cloud cover with about 1,000,000 candle power of light. Also, at the atomic level, light will pass through one plants foliage to light the plants below. Still, you do want to plant...

    Water ph for soil grows

If your tap water is at 8Ph then soil amendments can be used to address and compensate for this problem. Elemental sulphur will drop soil Ph one full point, but it will take as much as 10 days for critters in soil to convert sulphur to sulphuric acid. One potential benefit to your situation with...

i forgot to germinate help me!!

Yeah just keep soil damp and don't use any ferts until codyledone leaves fall off. The cods are a prepackaged nutrient source for your baby plant and it will only need water until those are gone.

standards of weed in uk vs us

Or, like myself, he knows how to amend the existing soil. Here is my biggest baby ( pic is a week old ) with almost three months to go and just entering the stretch. What do you think this will yield?

standards of weed in uk vs us

Since Colorado became med friendly, we have a booming industry which has raised awareness of strains, THC%, indica vs. sativa, etc., etc., etc. Funny thing is that I have done outdoor grows for probably twenty years and never knew all the science available to enhance or improve your grow. I just...

Want to never see a gnat in your room?

I have recently learned that something I do has prevented me from ever seeing a fungus gnat. We all visit our lovelies at least a couple of times a day, and part of my regimen is to use my fingers to break up the soil to a few inches on the surface. I originally did this as a means of...

Did I jump the gun when I used safers brand diatomaceous earth?

A good way to avoid the fungus which gnats develop in is to rake the surface of the soil with fingers to the depth of first knuckle just before each watering. This also helps aerate the surface for better absorption. Do this every time and you will never see a gnat.

Simple protection from pets indoor, and critters outdoor.

Have been on RIU for some time, and have failed to post this wonderful organic protection for all plants in or out. If you have a problem with critters munching your ladies, a generous sprinkling of cayenne pepper will encourage munchers to stop, and has no affect on MJ at all. Now this won't...

Kitten chewed off the tops of my seedlings

Sorry dude, but if eaten before cods fell off, very little hope of recovery. For future crops, a sprinkling of cayenne pepper will keep all but the most determined pet from eating more than a nibble.

Why are so many people obsessed with speed of grow?

Well sure, money is a concern, but I'm all about superior quality. Many of the dispensaries ( here in CO ) are simply overflowing with buds that would have been so much better had they been allowed to fully mature. I think profit over quality is a disturbing trend in growing and IMO it is sad.

Why are so many people obsessed with speed of grow?

As a person who has grown gardens for my entire life, I have to say I am somewhat amazed at this predominant obsession with rapid growth and harvest. If you treat your ladies like the wonderful individual entities that they are, your focus would be more on allowing them to set the pace rather...

PH Water Question Outdoor Grow. HELP!!!!

An organic fix for your soil is elemental sulphur. You need to be aware that this is NOT a quick fix, and will take a week or so ( while soil organisms break down the sulphur into sulphuric acid ) but, properly applied, sulphur will reliably drop Ph level one full point.

God damn bears!!!!! How to bear proof your crop???

I'm not absolutely sure this will work, but it has kept other less dangerous critters away from my plants and my garden for years. All you have to do is think like an animal. Get yourself a pony keg, invite male friends you can trust to come drink it with you, and then piss a perimeter around...

    10 ft monsters!

An inexpensive material to use for bending plants is surveyors tape. It is soft and non-abrasive, and easy to use. Another benefit is that the buds lower on the stem will get more light and thus will grow more. I personally would have started bending them long before they got as tall as they are...

Ph levels andwater, nute solutions in soil grow??

Your plants look good man. I don't concern myself with water Ph but rather with soil Ph as that is what your plants are going to be affected by. It is my understanding that Cannabis is best able to assimilate nutrients when soil Ph is above 6 and below 7, so I don't worry too much as long as Ph...
