Instead of using a sealant on the wire mesh top that comes standard with most fish tanks I was wondering if anyone has an idea for how to create a top that is airtight and ideally easy to cut holes in without breaking the whole piece?

I've been getting some rot in a similar setup, the only difference is i have them in jiffy pellets rather than bare stem. is it possible that the jiffy pellets retain too much moisture and are causing rot? And thanks for coming to the thread.

I think you'll be ok with 1 fan if you keep some areas open for just ventilation. I would still add a small fan inside the tent to keep air circulating. as for the noise control something as easy as a cardboard box around the fan should help
