The best self watering systems are hydroponic. I've run pumps on timers for soil while i am away for a week or two, nothing beats had watering in soil IMO.

I just grabbed 2 150w CFL's i was so stoked to replace my 6 smaller cfls for veg. Now i'm sad to see this post, i might have to keep some smaller cfls for extra coverage... See how it goes.

A small CFL is going to have to be damn close to get a a plant to grow towards it.

I prefer a sterile razor blade but if you grow REAL bushes I suppose hedge trimmers are appropriate.:lol: bubble bags are a good idea, I always forget. :(

Gavita's bulb module is made by luxim which is an independant startup as far as is know and they seem to be the leader in LEP right now also making the bulbs for chamelion and a couple others. I dont know what ceravision or phillips are up to but rumours are that they are close to bringing...

I dont think there would be a siginificant difference. Especially if you design your venting system to handle the full 600W the light can give. Atleast this import ballast gives you specific wattages when dimming, I think you have to change the bulb, not positive but it makes sence.
