"Cannabinol (CBN)

A psychoactive cannabinoid that comes about from the degradation of THC, there is usually very little CBN in a fresh plant. CBN potentiates the effects of THC. The degradation of THC, into CBN, is often described as creating a "couch lock" effect. "

even the real scientist note that it is described but they dont say it does

real couch lock is from One Hitter Quitter kind buds, not old degradated, stored improperly dry buds, as moisture loss/oxygen, also light, is the cause of the conversion i think

heres a good read for any of you with MS patients or family

Interesting MS sudy results.

Multiple sclerosis and extract of cannabis: results of the MUSEC trial.
J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry. 2012 Nov;83(11):1125-32
Authors: Zajicek JP, Hobart JC, Slade A, Barnes D, Mattison PG, MUSEC Research Group

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is associated with chronic symptoms, including muscle stiffness, spasms, pain and insomnia. Here we report the results of the Multiple Sclerosis and Extract of Cannabis (MUSEC) study that aimed to substantiate the patient based findings of previous studies.

PATIENTS AND METHODS: Patients with stable MS at 22 UK centres were randomised to oral cannabis extract (CE) (N=144) or placebo (N=135), stratified by centre, walking ability and use of antispastic medication. This double blind, placebo controlled, phase III study had a screening period, a 2 week dose titration phase from 5 mg to a maximum of 25 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol daily and a 10 week maintenance phase. The primary outcome measure was a category rating scale (CRS) measuring patient reported change in muscle stiffness from baseline. Further CRSs assessed body pain, spasms and sleep quality. Three validated MS specific patient reported outcome measures assessed aspects of spasticity, physical and psychological impact, and walking ability.

RESULTS: The rate of relief from muscle stiffness after 12 weeks was almost twice as high with CE than with placebo (29.4% vs. 15.7%; OR 2.26; 95% CI 1.24 to 4.13; p=0.004, one sided). Similar results were found after 4 weeks and 8 weeks, and also for all further CRSs. Results from the MS scales supported these findings.

CONCLUSION: The study met its primary objective to demonstrate the superiority of CE over placebo in the treatment of muscle stiffness in MS. This was supported by results for secondary efficacy variables. Adverse events in participants treated with CE were consistent with the known side effects of cannabinoids. No new safety concerns were observed.

TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT00552604.

PMID: 22791906 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

Here is the dosage information excerpted from the full text for those curious:

Active treatment was an extract from Cannabis sativa L (extraction medium ethanol 96%) in soft gelatine capsules, standardised on cannabidiol (range 0.8-1.8 mg) and containing 2.5 mg Δ9- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) as the main cannabinoid (Cannador; Society for Clinical Research, Berlin, Germany).

The study consisted of a pretreatment screening period of 1-2 weeks, a 2 week dose titration phase and a 10 week maintenance phase. Total treatment duration was 12 weeks. Participants were assessed at 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks after the start of treatment.

The starting dose was 2.5 mg Δ9THC (one capsule) twice daily. Subsequent doses were individually titrated upwards by
5 mg Δ9THC/day every 3 days for up to 12 days to optimise the ratio between therapeutic effect and side effects, and to achieve
a maximum daily dose. The maximum allowable total daily dose was 25 mg Δ9THC. Participants used diaries to record
capsules taken daily.

If you dont have oxygenated water in dwc your plants will die.
True, but in waterfarms they don't require airstones. It runs on a drip ring system which oxygenates the water. Some DWC steps use spray nozzles to aerate the water. Airstone isn't a requirement for a DWC as some here will try to tell you.

Its not like airstones really give much oxygen, just read any aquarium care info. Its agitaiton to surface area that will give water oxygen

CNN converts to what? Thc and Cbd both degrade to cbn a totally worthless cannabinoid IMO. Mr is absolutely correct. Amber means past peak potency. As a matter of fact Mel Frank did a great high times article on it
People misinterpret CBN I think. They look at it as something similar to CBD. Think of it as a rotten egg. Pretty sure nobody would cook with those.

So. . . .

How can a "strain" effect high?
What makes a "sativa" or a "indica" diffrent? and all the strains and hybrids inbetween?

is "k0ijn" a scientist?
does he have a lab?
what makes his opinion better then Dj Short's?

i think off the bat where k0ijin says
The first state is clear. Clear trichomes contain precursor cannabinoids (cannabinoids are the different substances in cannabis).
These precursor cannabinoids are not psychoactive (they do not produce a 'high') yet and harvesting clear trichomes will not give you a proper harvest.
so if i smoke weed with clear trichomes, i will not get high?
does that mean i can smoke clear trichome weed, and not come out positive on a drug test that looks for THC?
Ive heard of anxious people taking samples off their live plant. (very impatient) and talk about how they were able to get high.

Bottom line is there is a cocktail of active chemicals in the plant that effect your high.
and i think everything from the time you harvest, to the way you cure effects that cocktail, and the end product.

THC can even increase while you cure as non active chemicals convert to THC.

Post counts don't matter either. Some people here have really high post counts but don't know shit when it comes to growing.

It's foolish to think that every single trichome on a piece you pull is all going to be at a specific stage. It is completely impossible to get every single trichome to be cloudy, clear or amber. And if you read my post(pretty sure you didn't) I never said he was a scientist. I said I believe he has a friend or knows someone who is involved in the studies of cannabis.

This can not be said enough. You have those who just hang out in toke n talk and do nothing but spew stupidity all day long. IMO Rep should be disabled for any section not related to growing.

I almost made this thread with bmeat in the thread title, I still might.

I do not have a problem with his youthful enthusiasm, his incredible stupidity and childlike demeanor.

What bothers me is he gives advice to people acting like he is a successful grower.
This poor, dumb, living at home with mom, mutt has never grown a healthy marijuana plant.

He has made all the n00b mistakes and is ready to "help" people with their grow.
The kid goes on these long rants about the instability and weakness of feminized seed genetics and he is growing feminized seeds right now. They are his best plants yet.

Look at my signature.

LOOK AT IT.

Those are not the dumbest things he has said, I just didn't feel like updating it.

you dont need added oxygen the open top pots and moving water and res mix plenty, in a ill conceived DWC bubblers will help but are not necessary in a dialed in set up , imho

oxygen is needed in a soil grow not for roots as much but for your soil bennies and bacteria

i thought it helped or aided thcv, thc, in conversion to delta 9 thc or thca but i think i was mixing up information
