Is healthcare a right?

In the decades following the 14th amendment, in something like the first 320 cases that were brought up on 14th amendment grounds, something like I wanna say 18-25 of those cases were actually brought up by black people. The other 290-300 or so were CORPORATIONS.

Ignorance is the one true enemy we have. You can't have hatred without ignorance. Sorry I keep making separate posts, I've got a soft spot for this country and for humanity and sometimes I just can't stop ranting.

The healthcare in Canada is free? How do they fund it? Money grow on trees in Canada? or Do you have to pay taxes? If you pay taxes then its not really free is it?
They pay for it with an Environmentalists worst nightmare... by drilling there, and by allowing the Inco Mine [aka PRIUS mine] to exist. Basiclly by allowing the USA to shit all over them, and otherwise outsource our pollution. Indeed, Environmentalists should be scared shitless of Socialism & Communism.

"The only two things infinite in nature are the universe and human stupidity." - Einstein.

Seriously playing the good damn money game is the oldest charade in the book. Any of you that think society couldn't work without monetarism is in complete ignorance. And when people don't need to work, they would much rather work. Its quite a dichotomy to live with, but we as people are fraught with contradiction. Not to mention the prohibitive boundaries and fallacious ideologies most of you seem to be forming opinions from. Since words describe the infinite, no amount of words could ever describe a really state of being, point being all ideologies are incomplete. We stop using all of these concepts that are outdated and begin to form an enlightened mass-of social unit, authority, religion, law, education, money(fiat or not), ect. all rely on the trust of most in order to function. Media outlets, intentionally or not, are perpetuating an archaic form of thought and reporting that further propels this world into the depths of a shitty toilet bowl.

no doubt that some brewery in shitshatapoopton, manitoba is going to pump out some good beers. you should come check out my neck of the woods. more breweries per capita than anywhere else in the world. and they sell for reasonable prices, WITHOUT 14% sales tax.

Yeah here in saskatchewan all liquor is distributed by the sask liqs and gaming. Even offsales have to buy at consumer cost, no quantity discounts, so after 9 you go there and pay like 20%.

But I will be brewing my own beer and whiskey in the next few months as I have only recently gained an appreciation for alcohol and found out you can do it at ~$3/Gallon!!! No statutes exists prohibiting consumption of any kind of liquor so long as you made it and aren't selling it, weird only liquor is allowed :). You can also get a 12box of 26's ordered by the SGLA of any liquor at their regular cost.

the only good thing to come out of canada is crown royal.

He was drinking fat tire though, beats the hell out of Coors (and I'm Colorado born and raised).

blazin, I just want to make sure one thing and I'm totally fine. I actually DO AGREE with some of the things you're saying, I hope you don't think that's not the case. I'm registered independent but I've never voted in my life and at this rate never will. Unless maybe Jello Biafra wins his party's nomination or something equally interesting.

The one thing: You don't think having republicans in charge does anything whatsoever as far as "big government", do you?
i think it gets out of control no matter who's in office.

+ Rep for that one, although I think that town is in Saskatchewan. Ack, sorry I gave you too much already, its the thought that counts.
you know you love me.

i love you too for being mindful of all the ways we are being fucked. i often have no rebuttal for your comments, making me feel inferior, information-wise if not intelligence-wise as well.

would be great to pick your mind over a beer and a bowl to see exactly where you're coming from. keep fighting the good fight.

It has become a Liberal mantra to declare health care insurance a basic human right.
Health care INSURANCE ?????
In the UK and many European countries Health Care is provided free at the point of need by the state. It is definitely a right provided to all citizens.

No private INSURANCE companies are required, that is an American view.

So its free, meaning no one pays for it and the hospitals and doctors and nurses are just donating their time and materials? How long do you think those hospitals will be in business with a 100% loss?

Well just like in a socialist countries money is taken from the taxes in order to make life better.;) Germany has a similar set up, they spend less $/capita and have an equal standard of living, and a 15000X better education system.

And one may say this is not socialism because taxes are voluntary, or we pay money to we use the service. Unfortunately thats not quite a deflection of the fact that socialism is what makes all public infrastructure possible. I don't agree that socialism in the pejorative is a correct way to run a country. Look into the presidential democracy of cyprus. Single party states get to wound up in them selves that it becomes hard to convince your subjects that your being good to them, plus single parties have already subverted the goal of socialism which is to better life for all. Once an autocratic leadership is put in place, same as with any democracy, you begin to lose grips of why you had the leader in the first place.

next, lets have universal auto insurance. that way no matter who gets in a wreck, their car gets repaired for free. after that, lets get universal housing. now you dont have to pay a mortgage because your payment automatically gets deducted from your paycheck.

wow so convenient. thanks big brother!

hell why dont we just work, give all our money to the government, and anytime we want something, we just ask them if we can have it?
"hey mommy, can we order pizza today?"
"sorry timmy, that pizza will put you over your caloric intake for today. here have a salad instead, i know whats best for you."
"ahhwww"
far fetched maybe. but not totally impossible.

I have near universal auto insurance. SGI, there are no private insurers in saskatchewan, but there are issuers which are the outlets for SGI and they deal with other forms for claims as well and receive some kind of kickbacks, we pay around $500 for a year for registration and licensing of a midsized sedan. $25 for our personal license. And our deductible is $700. If you pay an extra $200 for a 'package policy' your deductible is only $150.

For every point against your license you pay $25, me @ 16 points pay $400+$25. If you have +points you get a discount on your registration, my dad at 10 points get %20 discount, he is the registrar of all vehicles! And because generally all accidents are dealt with in one entity there is really no delays no getting repairs, get mine done with in a couple days usually.

Medicine at any pharmacy is only $12.00 in saskatchewan. Also doctor appointments are free, they are payed by the government per patient they see, so they have more incentive to deal with more patients. But then the government flat rates for various procedures and extraneous testing.

And small business loans are covered 30% by the government in the event of failure so banks have more incentive to lend. Billions in grants and loans are made available to any citizen with functioning planing. Low budget housing, housing subsidies, upgrade grants, tax cuts, and low interest mortgages. Yep its pretty nicely run up here. Plus the dopes good, the dope in prison is better, and no one really cares about anything. Our currency is near par, but apple products still cost more!! I haven't been the victim of crime but I am pretty laid back.

How about we just get rid of money and we function just as we ever did, but eliminate nonfunctioning jobs more efficiently? Why not just switch every restaurant to dominoes? There are so many ifs here. Lets just end the humble conjecture and do some research. I mean think of the amount of people in the financial industry that we could put too work effectively, instead of trying to fuck every john that walks through the door. Millions of jobs we could eliminate and redirect resources too. I mean food would be the prime concern of our species rather than numbers attached to plastic cards. You must agree the values of the society at large are highly fucked beyond the illustrations of dystopian civilizations.

The government practically already tells us what to do, and what they don't effectively get you on, often times employers will. A single arrest will follow you around for life, even if you're not convicted, it will show up on background checks you get for most "good jobs".

And this myth that all of the sudden people left and right are going to turn into blobs on the couch, parasites on society, honestly now.

If we had universal health care and had affordable nutritious food available to everyone, would YOU all of the sudden lose your will to live? Would you stop giving a shit altogether, and cease to want to do anything with your life?

That's the same fucking myth about drug legalization, that it will all of the sudden result in a drug armageddon where everyone is shooting heroin and smoking crack and meth and society just falls apart. It wouldn't happen. Happy healthy people do care about their health, and they don't use drugs (or don't use them to the point of addiction or overdose when they do) because they ACTUALLY VALUE THEIR LIVES.

Having good health care and access to healthy food and stuff like that would probably HELP at least some of these "parasites" you so fear actually get out and be all they can be..

Unless you're in Texas and possibly some other parts of the south, they call everything Coke. "Can I get you something to drink?" "Yeah I'd take a Coke if you got it." "What kind?" "Pepsi".

Well it may not go down exactly like that I had a girlfriend in Texas for a little while there and I didn't end up fluent in their strange ways that's for sure.
