in the summer months your closer to the sun and at a more direct angle
Everything you said was great and right about it needing the whole spectrum and thank for posting this

I just want to correct you on this part though. :bigjoint: We're not actually closer to the sun during summer time. Its actually just the tilt of the earth that creates the seasons. but the more direct angle is correct. As the rays are mainly coming on straight at us in summer while during winter, they are coming at high angles and a lot of the light and heat and all gets deflected off

There is no reason to "fine tune" lights just give em a mixed spectrum in both veg and flower and best for this CMH, which I have said

Did you read the thread? I'm curious because I totally covered lights?

And I'm not hatin on ya, I'm just asking, because if I was planning on buying a new light, you said MH soon, I would buy a CMH and be done with it.

and just because a plant will grow under any light does not make it the most efficient

Yeah thats actually what I was just thinking. good idea. Ill see how it works.

And Im guessing I slowly pull the string tighter and tighter as the plant adjusts and starts to curve itself? Or just BAM! bend it over.? Idk
yea man, probly like every 3 or 4 days pull it tighter. jus dont snap the stem... that would suck major balls :wall: lol

Great thread, riddleme... you have a working person's ethic to take this on. I didn't get to read everything, but I'll have to, especially seeing how you got excoriated in the first couple of pages for suggesting that MJ might be able to grow just like any other plant, instead of thru a 76-step recipe that costs a fortune. How fun! + Rep for you!!

Working persons ethic, Yeah I have invested like 5 hours a day to this project, good thing my girl friend loves me LOL :bigjoint:

Glad you enjoyed it and welcome your input is valued my friend

The book (more like pamphlet) is done spent all weekend writing it but when I tested sending it in a PM it was too big :wall:

So gotta figure out how I'm gonna do this may have to cut it up into several PM's, not sure yet

Anyway I will ask the final question tomorrow night either way

So everyone get ready :bigjoint:

fuck man, i wus watchn tv in the living room smokn a blunt n all the sudden i hear this huge crash, it wus my lights falling and crushing my 2 flowering plants.....:wall: i have no idea why or how the lights fell...but i got some ghetto splints holdn the broken branches, only 3 or 4 on each plant, mostly just REALLY bent branches. like my lemon haze plant got LSTed ina bout .5 seconds... im thinking they will pull through, atleast the branches that were un harmed. do you think they will pull through and have a decent yeild?? or will the damaged braches kill the whole plant?

It will pull thru MJ is very tough and resilient plus you can tape it up like a bandaid if ya want or just it go and watch what she does

Hey Riddle,

Just got my confermation from amazon. The book will ship today so I plan on having it by Friday?(Hope So) Can't wait to read it.

I have a question I have been working on all weekend. Like you, I love to do research and sometimes I get caught on something and just don't get it.

My question concerns food for our plants and how, as UB put's it" they see it". I have researched and think I have a grasp on the antagonistic effects each nutrient has towards each other.

So here it goes. Let's say I am starting with a bottle of Shultz 10/15/10. Now I have read the ingredients and the Schultz does lack some of the "Micro" nutrients that our plants need to achieve healthy and green foliage. Now if I was to get a set of samples from say "Cutting edge Solutions" who have a Micro nutrient that is a 6/0/0 but also contains all of the needed Micros for plant health.

So the Schultz mixing chart says 7 drops per qt. or 28 drops per gln, and the CES says to add 2 ml per gallon. I measured and the 28 drops = abt 1 ml.

Now if I was to mix the 2 ml of CES and the 1 ml of Schults, how would that change my NPK value of the mixture? UB speaks of the mix being of = part's so would the result be<

10/15/10 + 6/0/0 + 0/0/2 = 16/15/12?

I am not using the recommendation of the manufacturer to go by for feeding. I am trying to make a balanced food that my plant's will see. I know you and UB talked abt Jack's but putting anymore money out at this time is not an option so I have to make due with what I have.

IDK, maybe I am just stressing over it to much, but I am just trying to understand how it work's.

Gotta get ready for work! I will check back later today.

Peace

Big

and the " wave lengths get in the orange spectrum cause the " wavelengths" are passing through more atmosphere.......have you ever noticed the sun sets are much more rich in the fall and winter......

actually during the summer months earth is the farthest away from the sun but with more direct angle of light.............earth is CLOSER TO THE SUN IN THE WINTER(USA winter) with less direct beams < more offf angle like 45 instead of 90...... FYI:bigjoint:

Actually the loop around the sun is the same distance. Its the 23.5 degree angle of the earth axis that makes the seasons. but other than that. yeah thats right

look it up man the earths orbit around the sun is not a perfect circle....i learned this in like 7th grade or sooner...... the earth IS closer in USA winters

yes the axis angle IS what makes the season but still not a perfect circle

i know the facts and wont get wrapped up in this........food for thought............before our times.. we had an ice age..... and several others MAJOR events in our history as far as climate variations......we are getting warmer and warmer( yes you say "greenhouse" ) yes to an extent < kind of like adding that peice of wheat toast to the co2 mix to give it a boot........ready for it........... THE SUN IS ACTUALLY PULLING OR SOLAR SYSTEM TOWARDS IT..... AS EVERY THING IN EVOLUTIUON IT IS ALMOST UN NOTICE ( AS IT MAY TAKE 1000'S OF YEARS TO MOVE PLANETS A COUPLE INCHES... BUT IT IS HAPPENING........ IN THE FUTURE OUR PLANET WILL GET TOO CLOSE AND THE NEXT ONE WILL BEGIN TO GIVE LIFE AS WE BURNN UP...........................

Hahaha. That may be true about us inchin closer but us burning up wont happen for another million years or so. And I just took oceanography class in college this past semester and went over this. Grant it, its not astronomy, which ill take next year, but still we went over this. And global warming isn't real. Well, us causing it isn't real. The earth naturally heats and cools itself, ranging from minor to major temperature fluctuation. Actually, back right before the black plague hit in the medieval times, there was a slight temperature drop, like maybe 5-10 degrees for each season and it set it in a minor ice age... But ocean acidification on the other hand is real.. We're making the ocean more acidic

I think almost all of them are doing ok

i cut off the burnt leaves( no use in the plant wasting energy on trying to repair its bottom leaves.....) they are looking better....... one is whilting tho.... look for it youll see...... i think this is the 4th week as i havent been writting any thing down i know it was a week before christmas...

i added annother light ballast........so there is 4 florou tubes now.... went ands bought the most lumen out put they had 2 are " yellow warm" they put out 3600 lumens each.... 2 are blue cool they put out 3200 each so...... is this suppose to be 15,800 lumens????

2 @ 3600 each
2 @ 3200 each
=
15,800 right???? wow is that too much? can i flower with this?

i plan on keep adding as i grow instead of moving the lights up i want to just add new ones at the top keeping the other ones on the side like they are and just stack higher not move the whole thing higher..

ooo yeah 2 of the plants I put my nose in the tops and smelled it was soooo stanky " good stanky" it hurt my nose.....hahaha

WHEN OR IS THERE A WAY TO TELL THE SEX ON THESE THINGS SOONER????????

PER MY WIFEY I NEED TO GET THE # DOWN.....:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

very true the earth as a whole is not closer to the sun but since the earth is rotating on a tilt your region is closer, unless your on the equator which would stay rather constant in distance. during the summer months. this isn't really enough of a distance to lengthen or shorten the wavelength. it's far more the tilt that at play here.

the further away you get from the equator the more air particulates will interfere with the wavelength of light causing it to stretch out to the more orange/red spectrum.

a good example of this is in the tundra area's where the tilt is enough to deflect the light back up rather than to absorb it. if you grab some sat photos or watch i'm sure any number of documentaries you can see where the tree's start to dissipate, due to this effect.

i think it's rather out of scope to go into any real detail here, but some thought on light photons and how your plants utilize them, i think is important for even the most amateur growers. if for no other reason than to hang out with your plants and a book. reading to your plants does more good than you might think :)

alright bro, i taped up the big branches that look like they were starting sum good nugs, chopped 3 or 4 lil branches off, but the lights kick on ina bout 5 mins lol so ill b bak on later to tell ya how there doin, i cant believe it but the lil branches i cut off last night are still green and full of life lol wouldda cloned em but i already got clones goin n dont have more space. i just thought it wus amazing how long these little branches will support themselves without roots haha

actually ina way this could b a good thing the lights fell like that, now i dont have to worry about runnin outta room heighth wise lol and after checkn em out i realized the buds swelled up huge last night, maybe it kicked em into survival mode n there just trying to finish up quick or something. ne ways all is good =) maybe lost a half ounce or so that would hav eventually grew on the broke off branches, but the entire plant gets light now and the lower stems have starting producing buds aswell. its pretty amazing how even smashing the shit outta em will not kill em, but some people still seem to kill plants on accident every single day... lol

All the clues that I had are here (and in my grow journal), plus as I have said already I added a few more.

The last question is,,,,,,,,,,,,

What do you think I am trying/going to tell you?

can you take the clues that all of you have gone out and found based on your answers to my questions and figure out what the simple secret is???

right off the top of my head, not saying its ne thing close to right lol. but just chill out, people make growing WAY to complicated, replicate nature as close as you can, listen to your plants needs, n just sit bak and watch ur girls turn into a bagfull of joy =) lol
im goona re read everything, and see if something else comes to mind =)
