PleasePLEASE help, im making Cannabutter with trim & just have 1 quick question

Whattup everybody, im making cookies today with some butter im making out of trim & stem I have. I was gathering directions, watching videos, etc, it's not hard to do im just conufused about when its simmering because some places say stir & simmer for 3 hours then put it in the fridge after you strain it, but some sites say keep it simmering for 24 hours? that's not really possible in my situation but does it make a big difference??

No, don't put it on high at all. It's actually best in a double boiler. If you get it too hot during the process it vaporizes the THC. You don't want to cook it off! Just get it warm and melt it in butter. low heat for 3-4 hours should be just fine and the better you strain it the better it tastes.

If you examine your material while boiling, you can get an idea of when its done. I use my microscope to inspect samples of leaves. After about 8 hours on low setting, the trics were fully dissolved.

I agree, never leave it on a high boil, the THC will vaporize and evaporate, then you're left with nothing but flavored butter. I also think only 3-4 hours is way too short a time to process this correctly. Let it simmer a good 6-8 hours and you will be amazed at the outcome, if you can let it go longer, do so. I've only done this three times, first was about 12 hours and it was incredible. The last two times I cheated it a bit and only went with 4 hours, and one about 5 hours and the difference was definitely noticeable. You say you're rushed for time, which is never a good thing when dealing with our girl MaryJane. Let it go as long as you can, or postpone the process till you have adequate time to do it properly, the longer the better. Good luck.

haha, were all burnouts and grass city sucks. sorry if i was vauge, i figured if youve been doing your reading the vaugness would just seem like shorthand

when i made cannabutter i did a variant on the crockpot method without having a crockpot. i heated the water butter trim and small bud for 2 hours on a temp just above the lowest my stove top goes, then for the next 2 it was at the absolute lowest my stove can go.

poured the mixture over cheesecloth (i did this 2-3 times to make sure it was extra filtered)

then in the fridge for a few hours seperate liquids from solids and BAM! now you can make any canna treat you want

This makes more sense. Because you are going to try to squeeze it into 3-4 hours (3 is never going to cut it BTW) I would imagine you need to raise the heat a little bit, but really don't go burning it all off, just get it good and hot and then let it cool a bit, then repeat, that might be a good process for speeding it up. It won't be nearly as good as if you have the time though to wait it out and heat it in the crockpot or a double boiler.
