Dude, sorry about the bullshit we just went through. I toatlly uendrsatnd aoubt nto slpelnig croreclty 'n' shit... lol

The grow's doing great, especially considering I haven't been able to give it pure sunshine due to the high winds we've been receiving from the outer bands of Hurricane Gustav lately.

What you're looking at is the 3rd set of leaves with the 4th set coming through next.

Oh, and about the setup...when the plant gets too big to be able to set in the sun every day, I'm going to move it to a custom 1.5'-wide by 3'-long by 2'-high box with 5 flourescent lights in it...4 around the plant and 1 on top. These are the lights I want to buy...any opinions?

They don't say anything about the Kelvin rating, but they do give you "where it would be on a scale from incandescent to bright white to daylight (bluish-white)", and these are "daylight".

How does that sound?

Thanks, Miss.

I was thinking about topping this plant, considering how thick the stalk and stems are...I'd imagine it means the plant is healthy, has good circulation...and best of all...can support the added weight of an extra cola or 3 (if I were to top, then FIM). What do you guys think?

I think that is a matter of personal opinion. I've got 2 I just let grow and I FIM'ed one and am going to top one. I think you should decide and just go for it.

Another question...what should I buy to mount these twist-in flourescent lightbulbs? I've seen some people using what looks like a cluster of outlets attached to the end of an extension cord, with a bunch of light bulbs sticking out of it. What are some other ideas?

i would position them quite carefully, depending on heat maybe about 6inch from the plant, and no more than a foot between bulbs. also id put one on every side of the box minimum, and one on the top. the bulbs on sides id put at different heights depending on the size of the plants.
you could go for standard fittings and attach them in the box, or ive been thinkin of getting some of them reading lamps with the flexible pipe and mounting an envirolight bulb on there, this would give much more freedom to movement of the light.
do you still have it on 24/0? its looking very healthy.

also are those going to cost you $134?? if so go to your local home depo n look for some 70w hps they would be much better and probably cheaper.
its shit to read ur getting the back end of that hurricane, ive been watching it on the news, my thoughts are with all affected.
Peace

No way those bulbs are $134, but it does look like the package says that doesn't it?

Shit I buy my CFL's at Walmart 3 for like around $7.00

i grew mine in the window then budded under a 600w hps, but i need an alternate to the window, its the wrong time of year and yours look so much better lol, i got a little stretch and crazy wild growth lol. but all seems to be well at the mo with harvest coming very soon.

I have a crazy screwed up system going on. My bigger plant Lucinda is using 3 2700K cfls and she's been in flower about 2 weeks now.

Iris and sadie are currently sharing a 2700K cfl. Iris has been in 12/12 for one week and Sadie just started 12/12 last night.

I intend to get more bulbs and lamps and some of those splitters for 2 bulbs to one lamp this weekend.

I have 3 seedlings (sprouted withing the last 2 days) sharing 1 desk lamp .

2 other 4 week old plants each have their own lamp. they are in a cabinet lined with mylar. The ones on 12/12 get put into a closet at night. They go in the closet in a box with a 2 ply chunk of black material around that and the door closed. There are no light leaks.

Thanks for your interest and compliments.

Update: The 4th set of leaves is just barely past the 3rd set of leaves, but you can already see the 5 "fingers" in the 4th set...meanwhile the 5th set of leaves is BARELY visible, but it's there. I'll probably post pics tomorrow after it's gotten some time in the sunlight.

how long has Lucinda been on 12/12 for? i hope u have a good yield too, cant wait to find out what you get.. how big is she now? how long has she been on 12/12 for? is she showing bud? i noticed u called them all girl names.. but have any turned out male as yet?

Peace :joint:

PS scranny, ur plants looking very well. but still no answer are you still giving 24/0?

PPS miss did you do a 24 hr grow period? if not then now could be a good time to do a little experimenting and see which gets/got to 12/12 the fastest.. and then.. which yields the most(i know different strains grow different etc but it might give us an idea..)
i vegged mine in the window for 6weeks then under the 600w hps for two weeks before they showed sex, out of four plants two turned out female (bagseed)

I don't want to jack Scranny's thread but I'll answer you.

Lucinda has been on 12/12 for about 2 weeks now.

So far no males yet, but it's my first grow. I call them by their names when I'm messing around with them, want them to grow up thinking they're girls. LOL

I didn't do any 24 hour light times. I'm a firm believer that for photosynthisis to work properly the plants need the dark period too.

I'm experimenting right now with FIM, top, or not top. I don't have the space to do a bunch of freaky things with lights.

I do have 2 Lucinda clones, one I cut off on purpose, the other was a victim of the light crashing down in the cabinet. I think I might veg one and put one straight to 12/12. They're the same size and off the same plant.
