Material pleasures are ephemeral and most often involve an external source of gratification. Happiness depends on our relationship with ourselves and others, we must be right by others to be right by ourselves and have a sense of community or family. Humans are highly social animals and cannot exist outside a social context, these meditation practices enhance those relationships among other things. There is a reason MBCT is the leading treatment for depression, other than drugs, MBCT deals with the root causes for most, their relationship with themselves and others. The Dali Lama beleives in science and collaborates with leading scientists on the study of emotions.

Justice is coming a lot quicker for this guy than for Trump or his cronies. This is what normal speed looks like and why Roger and so many others are pissed and cynical about it.

lock the uncooperative bitch up till he goes to trial, problem solved.

this should have been the attitude from the beginning. Why is it that we need to step in shit to recognize it as such?
Part is cultural. The folks who set up the Internet were of a distinctly libertarian frame of mind. They wanted a brave new clean-sheet world with no or minimal rules.

So as the nearest thing that we’ve had in recent memory to a practical experiment in free markets, it showcases two things about small-l libertarian thought.
1) it is viscerally attractive
2) it runs into serious implementation issues as the ecosystem matures.

Market research is a disaster taxon, to push the young-ecology metaphor. It rapidly takes over the nutrient pool and evolves into intensely exploitative structures that feed on our individual and group psychology. So, online commerce breeds memetic weeds: Amazon begets Temu. Youtube begets TikTok, Infowars, and a crabgrass explosion of conspiracy echo chambers.

There is no (actually, negative) money in privacy, so our data get mined, collated, sold a thousand times over, and soon fed into precision-targeting AI that protect us from anything that might upset the colossal confirmation bias support built into a system that has evolved to take our money. They build frighteningly fine-resolved models of “each of us as a spender”, then impose the model on the person.

It is a cautionary tale about the basis of libertarian thought and practice in wishful premises, and the reality red in tooth and claw that is the stable iteration of clean-sheet freedoming.

or more directly, people suck. some more than others.
All it takes is one person who considers themselves a "predator", and the good intentions of libertarianism turn into a feeding ground for militant capitalist.

I forgot about this shit...what a fucking lunatic.
He wants 2 billion tax free in damages, and 387 members of congress kicked out of office...on top of reinstating trump...

That's f'n ridiculous.

Why aren't those tRump appointed judges being booted out for lying about Roe v Wade when questioned at their appt hearings? These members are obviously corrupt as hell and should in no way be allowed to continue on this treasonous path.

Time to empty the swamp Joe!

:peace:
