but not all left is socialist.

The following Venn diagram has a serious error (and some lesser ones): it places communism on the left. Communism as described by Marx was never established on scales beyond village.
“Communist” nations e.g. USSR were hard right, sharing the same space as fascists and other totalitarians. This highlights that anticommunism is a cudgel used by the right to keep the flock tight. Hearing other authoritarians sound the alarm over the Communist threat is some heady batshit hypocrisy.

Also, social democracy is distinct from socialism: social democrats do not want collectivization of the means of production, transport and finance. This is imo the defining concept of a socialist nation.

I would argue that all socialism is to the left. Social Democracies' are considered left leaning due to the social benefits. In Social Democracies the state often owns most if not all the utilities. It often restricts private ownership.

But perhaps beside my point about America having two Conservative parties. The ratcheting effect that was mentioned was very interesting i thought.

Is the bolded you stealing my rebuttal to your previous post? What you say here contradicts your earlier.

You cannot say gun rights except in context of the nation, as the second amendment is unique in national and regional constitutions worldwide.

Conservatives here undervalue the separation of church and state. That is not describing Democrats.

Democrats seek a more equitable distribution of the gross domestic product. That is snticonservative.

So I think you need to make a strong case, or consider abandoning the ideology.

i thought the video described why fairly well. Its ingrained.

I'm not sure how you can think that the Democrats are not Conservative. They are left learning in the world wide political scale.

I think the case is pretty clear cut just on the availability of universal healthcare that other countries with a left leaning party have.

Ignore the video and tell me in your own words and opinion exactly how the Democrats do when held up to a standard of political conservatism defined and mutually accepted beforehand, one that makes moving the goalposts easier to monitor.

List them.

It was two as it was relevant in this discussion but wasn't relevant for its own thread- hence the Junk drawer. You decided it was worth commenting on it in both threads.

Why don't you want a leftist social democracy with universal health etc? You wont get it under the Conservative Democrats will you?

I am not gonna critique the vid. Vids are not admissible for any real (college or journalist level) reference as they are not checked for accuracy or even coherence.

Use a medium that doesn’t have flat earthers soapboxing.

Or better, honor my request and tell me in your own words. It spares me the insult of first watching a possible alt-fact video, digesting it, then having to figure out the correction algorithm to apply to the differences to your version.

Be a stand-up bloke and cut out the middleman, and speak plainly. Commit, for fux sake. You tend to ask something ambiguous, then wait for the other guy to do your heavy lifting. Stop that if you want to be an honest man.
