Cloning in a Cup of Water

Bro u would puke if u realized i didnt even try to clone my last batch of cuttings man.
I cut them and just put them in the light and water like i described. Changed the water once a day when i remembered and got all but 3 clones from all the cuttings i took. And i got the majority of them within 1-2 weeks. Some of them are growing strong at my friends and fmilys house as we speak.

patience and trust man. TRust this system its fail proof bro.

I lost too many starts trying to get cuttings to root in perlite/verm. , stem rot got them. I did some playing around and this works good for me, There are many ,good systems ppl use. I cut lower branches as soon as I'm sure its fem. , wet and dip the stem in rooting powder, and insert stem into baby food jar filled with water. I seal the tops with stretch wrap and cut a razor slice hole to slip the stem in. Try not to scrape off the rooting power.( Hold open with tweezers) First cutting grew roots 8 days. All had roots by 12 days.I was not in hurry to get these gals growin so left there for 2 weeks. Got healthy roots and had no problems transplanting to soil. G Y O

Added water as needed, not tap water, to much cholrine, let it sit out 24 hrs and its OK, or use bottle water. Set jars in indirect lite, I put mine on top of my cfl lite fixtures .

what powder did you use i just got some root tone and put 2 clones in will this work theyre about a foot away from a 23 watt 6500k cfl

well i gave up on the cups. there were no roots after 3 weeks. i took the clones out of the cups, dipped them in rooting gel and stuck them in rock wool with four other clones im tryin in rockwool.

I used root tone , probley like yours kid, You dont have to put under lites, plants are growing roots ,not veg leaves. Put them on a shelf in room, no special lites or on top of my flour. lite tube fixture. LOL. Do keep room temps though, not a cold garage. Hope urs work out there sayword.

SOOOOO......I just read this whole post...and have to say I AM IMPRESED!!! My first time cloning...gel, dome, ....well all kind of shit was about 60% success. Now my second one, I got 2 out of 20.....I dont wish this feeling to anybody!!! You fucking nurture them...and all... So today I am gonna try your method. I am gonna follow exact steps and I will look forward to 20 out of 20...and I will update you. Thanks to everyone for your advices!!!

If I could only do it for u..I hope u have great success.. Remember tho.. The plant stage and the health of the plant during the time of cutting is going to determine how long the time of root structure is going to occur at least in my experience.
I just tossed the last 4 of my clones out to make room for a new veg project.
Actually I was growing the last 4 in cups of water and they were actually growing and looked as good as some of the clones i start in my bubblers..
Be sure to change ur water every day.. And indirect light for at least 18/6
If u read the thread then u understand I came up with the procedure thru trial and error and these are the best fine tuned actions u can take to ensure great results by doing so.

I know its been a long time on this but I tore the moms down and started a fresh set of strains so been waiting on some cutting's to take..
Been awhile just thought id update real fast..
Cut some more up and just threw um in the cup yesterday or the day before cant remember.But some of them i cut,scraped and dipped some of them i didnt i just got lazy is all.
Here they are.

Well this is what happened...I tried to clone in just water...no cloning gel or powder...and had about 70% success...tried it again, used gel on half, powder on the other...again about 60-70%. So my problem was, 3 of the plants I wanted to clone...even though they were young and in great condition, they were not good cloning plants...the mothers just weren't good (their clones took 3 weeks to root and only couple of them did). One of my plants on the other hand...I did everything the same way, her clones always rooted within 8 days, recovering fast, growing to GREAT plants.

So my conclusion is: It doesn't matter what technique you use to clone, if your mother plant sucks. Find a plant that will root within 10 days (no matter of cloning technique).

Very true. Success rates and clone times all depend on the health and stage of growth the plants are in at the time of cutting.
Ive had success using a few different method's. But all the same results.Some method's also bring faster results as well.
Also some strains are easier to clone than others. A strong Vegging plant will clone alot faster than a plant in flower mode. There are lots of variables. But ive found as long as ur quick. The grow area is clean. And u put as little stress on the cuttings as possible. Have patience then they will develope roots. Ive also had cuttings take 3 weeks.

I stumbled across this thread. Sat down and diligently read the whole thing. Then proceeded to take some cuttings following your exact steps except for without any rooting hormone as I had none. Cut, into water, scrape, mist, indirect light. The light will be 24 hours for the first day while I get another timer. After that I will switch to 18/6. I have 2 42W 6500K CFLs about 30" from the cups. Do you think this is proper lighting or should I alter it. I will make sure to change my water daily with spring water. Very low ppm and good pH. Also do you mist your clones daily or just when they are first cut? I hope this way works out for me. I tried rock wool twice. 0 success on the first attempt. I'm 7 days into the second rock wool attempt and round 2 looks fairly bad as well. Hopefully these simple water clones will be my answer. I only have a couple of seeds left and do not want to have to start them. I really want to get cloning figured out. I'll let you know how your method works out for me.

Hemp. Im not sure how spring water is going to work out for u.
My tap water right out of the faucet the other night was 700 PPM and 7.8 PH. Im actually interested to see how this works out for u with the spring water.
Far as the wool clones. They look way to wet. And completey saturated. They did not look too bad. Id be willing to bet if u set them up on something warm and let them dry a bit u would probably have roots poking out before they completely dried out.
The key to wool is moist. When i use wool i gave them only 1-2 table spoons of water a day around the base of the trunks.
It may benefit u to put ur cups on something warm.
Keep in mind i have found the fastest results using vegging clones scraped and dipped in superthrive for 30 seconds.
Hope this helps. LOL im sure if u have enough patience this will work with what u described.

I think i recorded my veg cab temps and relative humidity earlier in the thread but could re check for u.

I am kinda limited in my access to something warm. It has to stay confined within that room. I have a halogen heater that is pointed at the cab which helps to keep the temperature up around 25-27'C. I have been inadvertently letting the wools dry out by somewhat neglecting them. There are a couple in there that I think might root, but there are also a couple in the rock wool that I have no faith in what so ever. I'll ease up big time on the water on them and see how they do. You missed one of my questions which I think was kinda key. How often do you mist the clones using this method?
